At Al Huda Islamic School, we are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and faith-based learning environment. Discipline is carried out with fairness, transparency, and due process, while also holding students accountable for their actions.
Authority and Zero Tolerance
- The Administration is fully authorized to enforce the school’s discipline policy, including the decision to suspend or expel students who violate the Zero Tolerance Policy.
- All disciplinary actions will follow due process, ensuring fairness and an opportunity for the student to present their side.
Due Process
Before any decision is reached, the following steps will take place:
- The accused student and any witnesses will be interviewed.
- Evidence will be reviewed and weighed carefully.
- The student will be given the opportunity to explain or defend their actions.
- The Administration will make a decision based on the facts and discipline code.
In the event of an expulsion, the Board will be promptly notified and will review the case to ensure that due process has been followed.
Parental Responsibility
- Under Arizona law, parents/guardians are liable for damage caused by their children.
- Any student who causes damage to school property will be required, along with their parents/guardians, to pay restitution.
- Failure to provide restitution within the designated time may result in additional disciplinary consequences.
Suspensions
- All suspensions are unexcused and any missed work will result in a grade of zero.
- Short-Term Suspension (STS): Up to 3 school days.
- Long-Term Suspension (LTS): 4 to 10 school days.
Suspension Procedures
If a short-term or long-term suspension is considered, the following steps will apply:
- Report: Any major misconduct is reported to the Principal.
- Investigation: An advisor, appointed by the Principal, investigates the case and recommends consequences according to the discipline code.
- Due Process: The student and parents will be given the opportunity to present their case. A parent conference must be held before a final decision is made.
- Appeals: If parents disagree with the decision, they may appeal directly to the Principal.
Discipline at Al Huda Islamic School is rooted in justice, accountability, and compassion, ensuring that every decision is fair, respectful, and consistent with Islamic values.
